Update: Helping Newtown
When Red Nose Response went to Newtown, CT after the school shootings, we told the community we would be there for them in the long haul.
With the stimulus from Claudia Boerst, we began to keep that promise. Bouquets of long stem red noses were delivered to the first responders and others in Newtown who stepped up and helped in those awful hours. These bouquets consisted of 26 red noses on stems, in a vase, to symbolize the 26 students and teachers who died in the school shooting.
Fast forward to Thanksgiving this last year when Claudia came up with the idea of delivering pumpkin pies to some of these same responders and emergency personnel.
Now the community is in the process of fundraising to create a Pathway to Unity. This will be a memorial walkway from the flagpole in the center of town to the Sandy Hook elementary school and back.
As we hear more about specific fundraising events where our clown talents will be helpful, we will let everyone know. Connecticut responders should get in touch with Claudia "Socks" Boerst. E-mail jbysocks@optonline.net for the latest update on events and let her know if and how you might be able to participate.
